Asian Weddings are epic, no doubt about that. Be that the number of events, the number of the people, the vibrancy of emotion, the depth of colours and the and the interwoven stories. Over the years, Asian weddings have seen a great change from the humble conversion of the church hall with paper table covers, Irun bru on tables to where we are now with grand venues, banqueting halls, 12ft cakes, supercars, & helicopters, however one thing that has not changed is the need for families to book to book their photography and film separately, therefore having two teams capturing the exact moments, from the same angles. Which leads to having two identical albums for twice the amount. I can see why people will think they need two separate crews, but i dont think they see the problems that it causes.
These two picture demonstrates why it may not be a good idea to have two separate teams covering the wedding, as it shows the view that your guests will have during most of your wedding, and you don’t want that, you want them to see you looking elegant and radiant.
So what are the problems.
- Please refer to the above pictures again, your wedding moments become Paparazzi moments, and all you will see is cameras pointing at you.
- Cameramen and cameras will get into each others way, compromising the level of creativity of the pictures.
- Your guests will only see backs of photographers
- Photographs from both sides will be exactly the same which means you said twice for duplicates.
So how do you avoid these issues and maximise your Wedding Budget? Book a photographer, like myself, who has a large team, that can cover both sides equally and that work seamlessly to provide you with the coverage you need. If my team and were booked to capture both sides, we start working on the planning of the wedding before the actual day. We will go through the schedule, understand the requirements and to an extent pre plan the shots we think we will need.
On the day there is constant communication with each other, and the pre planning comes into its own, providing both a awesome wedding day experience for you, your family and your guests, as well as everlasting moments for you to cherish in one or two wedding books.
Asian Weddings brings with it challenges, that I need to manage on a minute by minute basis. So that’s why when I am told there will be a second crew, despite my advice, I cringe, take a deep breath and say “not a problem, we will work closely with them to get thing done” – and we always do.
